The Course
Watched over by the imposing McGillicuddy Reeks and offering views across Ballinskelligs Bay, Skellig Bay Golf Club is a golfing haven with a challenging par 72 course designed to test the skills of the most seasoned of players. Alongside its main course, the venue also boasts a practice green, well stocked pro shop with clubs and togs from leading brands, as well as a spacious club house serving food and drink. 
The Hotel
Hugged by the rugged coast of the Atlantic, the Bay View Hotel complements its 123 year history with a host of modern amenities and rooms decorated with a homely freshness. Two bars serve as the focal point for entertainment and the craic where exposed brickwork and wooden flooring help create a rustic ambience and meals can be purchased. The hotel is a popular launch point for those keen to explore Waterville and try out some of the various activities on offer around the area.
Two golfers can take up clubs and march out onto the testing course for a full round of 18 holes. Buggy hire is included so players can save all their energy for long drives and crucial putts. Pairings can take advantage of a 15% discount on all purchases over €30 on the day of play at the club’s pro shop. Those keen to make a night of it can retreat to the nearby Bay View Hotel and tuck into a hearty full Irish breakfast the following morning.

Skelling Bay Golf Club is ranked among The Golf Digest’s top 100 golf courses in Ireland 2012. Meanwhile the Bay View Hotel, though still waiting for widespread review, was rated an encouraging 3/5 by TripAdvisors. While opinions have varied on décor and food, visitors were keen to compliment the staff and location.
Maybe it's not Caesar's Palace but the people who work here at the Bayview couldn't have been any more helpful, friendly or welcoming. We did find the room very spacious, clean and had everything we needed including clean towels and sheets a nice tv and a view of the water.
