An early competitor for the hotel was the zootel, but despite their best efforts with frilly lampshades, the owners couldn't disguise the elephant in the room. Leave the animals at home for today's Groupon: for £139 enjoy a two night mini break, with full Irish breakfasts and a four course dinner on either night at the four star Amber Springs Hotel and Health Spa.
Just 50 minutes from Dublin and 30 minutes by car from Wexford, the Amber Springs Hotel is in a convenient spot for a little luxury retreat. Built in 2006, the hotel is decked-out according to the provisions of the four star standard, with simple, elegantly furnished en suite rooms in soft oatmeal tones and with kingfisher flashes of colour. From the crisp white pillows to the tiny Elemis toiletries, and from the ample 18 metre swimming and hydrotherapy pool to the sauna, steam room and fitness studio, the hotel offers guests a number of backdrops for intense relaxation.
Having dropped their valises with the valets, guests can choose to kick off a two night mini break with a four course feast in the contemporary Kelby's Bistro. With a vast picture window running the length of the restaurant, guests can watch the evening draw in as the courses draw on, before retiring for a nightcap in the bar or heading straight upstairs to bounce on the beds. Rising early enough to make use of all the mini toiletries, guests can then skip downstairs for a full Irish breakfast before heading to lounge by the pool, work out in the gym, or seek pampered bliss in the spa.
The hotel has received a number of positive reviews from guests who have praised the comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. TripAdvisor users scored 4/5 and gave further mention to the friendly efficient staff and the excellent food served at Amber Springs.
All in all it was a most enjoyable few days, and I would seriously recommend this hotel. We had been here for a weekend last summer, and doubled our time this year.....maybe a week in 2012 !

The staff in the hotel couldnt [sic] be nicer or friendlier and this was commented on by nearly all of our guests. The bedrooms are big and very comfortable and the Bridal Suite is pure luxury. All in all, I couldnt [sic] find one fault with this hotel
