Harmonising jamming guitar solos with vocal-chord rumbling, Music Makers' Academy opens its brand-new doors to music lessons and camps for children and adults alike. Tuition for instruments ranging from bass to drums will begin at the academy in the autumn, while novice players and advanced rockers will inaugurate the academy’s first summer. Playing tunes from the heart of Dun Laoghaire, the academy will host two terms of instruction this year.
Beginning youngsters can head to the Convent Road centre for five days of introductory band camp, where students picking it up for the first time will come together to try different instruments and form a band. Learning the As, Bs and C#s of treble and bass clef, students will be able to record and produce their own CD before performing in a live rock gig. More advanced students can opt to take their show to the rock school camp, which expands students’ musical horizons with live gig playing and more advanced lessons for faster fingers and players with between six months’ and a year’s experience.
