Settled in an area of castles, religious ruins, and folk stories, the Ashbourne House Hotel is on a crossroads of traditional culture and Celtic heritage in County Meath. Bisected by the Rover Boyne and River Delvin, the high hills and dipping valleys of the county stretch through market towns and luscious farmland across to the short seven mile shores of the Irish Sea in the East. Although a commuter county from Dublin, the Iron Age settlements and quaint towns still bubble up microcosms of lively pubs and heart grub.

Groupon Recommends
An inauguration platform of the kings, the Hill of Tara is now a national monument, rising 300ft with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Cistercian and Christian monasteries offer architectural delights of turret, gables, and historic arches, and by following the River Boyne a little further up the largest Anglo Norman Castle in Ireland, Trim Castle, can be explored. Ashbourne itself offers excellent shopping facilities in the town centre and the Fairyhouse Racecourse hosts regular race meetings.

Transport
Road: Ashbourne is now bypassed by the M2, the main Dublin to Derry route. It's also connected to the M1 and the M3 by the N51.
Airport: Dublin Airport is just 20km from the hotel.

Groupon Top Tip
Famed satirist Jonathan Swift was deeply connected to the area and, if keeping their eyes peeled, visitors can spot tributes and dedications to him around the region.
