Good hotel, poor restaurant customer service Hotel Mariënhage Our stay at Hotel Mariënhage started very well. When my wife and I arrived, the reception staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The lady at the front desk even gave us a voucher for two complimentary glasses of champagne, which was a lovely gesture. The hotel itself was excellent and the reception team provided 10/10 service. Unfortunately, the experience was spoiled by the manager at the hotel’s brasserie, Emil. When we went to redeem our champagne voucher, he was rude and aggressive toward my wife. He looked us up and down dismissively, served the drinks by slamming them on the bar, and made us feel very unwelcome. He even began speaking to another guest in his own language while pointing at us, which was uncomfortable and disrespectful. After finishing the drinks, we reported the incident to reception. The receptionist apologised sincerely and explained that the brasserie is run by a separate company. While we were speaking to her, Emil came out and started raising his voice at us, which even shocked the receptionist. Because of this, we cancelled the breakfast we had booked at the brasserie and requested a refund — we’re not willing to pay for poor customer service. Aside from this incident, the hotel itself and the reception staff were excellent. However, the brasserie seriously needs to address the behaviour of its manager, as it reflects badly on an otherwise great hotel.

Good enough I told in the rest of the review what my opinion is, including improvement points from my perspective. So why do you ask for 100 or more characters here?

Hotel Mariënhage is a delight! Myself and my partner stayed here for 4 nights and can't compliment it enough. From the easy, fast check in to the big beautiful room we were impressed at every turn. The staff are so friendly and always there to help - we felt very looked after & of course the spa was an extra layer of luxury! We would love to come back & recommend to others.
