Groupon asks Irene Monaghan of Beirut Express Grill House about early culinary experiments and age-old family recipes.
G: What is your first memory of cooking?
"I always remember loving the idea of experimenting with food and trying new things, and practicing each dish until it's just perfect."
G: What is the inspiration for the menu?
"Our chef, Alex, is himself from Lebanon, and has always had a great passion for his culinary heritage. He uses home-cooked recipes that can be traced back several generations, making our Lebanese menu quite traditional and very authentic."
G: What's your favourite dish from the menu?
"It has to be falafel and lamb shank. The seasoning on the falafel gives it a mixture of rich flavours, and the lamb shank is cooked until very soft and tender."
