Set on a 310-acre private island, the four star Waterford Castle Hotel & Golf Resort is a 16th-century castle and part of Ireland’s Ancient East, attracting visitors with its romantic, tranquil atmosphere. The resort benefits from its idyllic seclusion and privacy but, at the same time, is conveniently located minutes from Waterford city centre. The island is only a 90-minute drive from Dublin and Cork.
The island offers an array of activities, including an 18-hole par 72 championship golf course designed by Des Smyth, former Ryder Cup player and vice-captain, a tennis court, clay pigeon shooting and croquet. The area is also perfect for strolls, a morning jog or picnics. The King’s Channel Club House is located two minutes’ walk from the lodges, offering an informal dining setting and good value meals with a full bar. Situated in the castle, the award-winning, 2 AA Rosettes-accredited Munster Room will satisfy food lovers’ palates and create a memorable fine dining experience. The Fitzgerald Room Bar is an elegant, classic bar serving a selection of cocktails and rare Irish whiskeys.
