The Deal

Two adults (usually €8 per person) or a family of two adults and up to four children (€20) can explore the horse museum and equestrian centre. Showcasing Ireland’s equine history, the site also explores rural living through the 19th century. Aiming to fascinate visitors of all ages, the museum looks at areas such as the evolution and role of the Irish horse through history, as well as exhibits covering historic farm machinery and carriages. The venue also boasts a host of other rural activities, including a working forge for classes and seminars in conjunction with artist and blacksmith Stephen Quinn. All adult visitors will also receive a choice of tea or coffee each (up to €2 per person)

The Merchant

Located within 40 minutes of Galway, Dartfield Horse Museum and Heritage Centre is positioned within 350 acres of parkland with attractions including walking trails, clay pigeon shooting, an off-roading course and falconry displays. The museum is dedicated to Irish horses, Connemara ponies and Irish dogs, and works or art and antiques can also be found at the centre. Capable of hosting all manner of groups, Dartfield is perfect for school tours, corporate days, exhibitions, meetings and kids’ parties.
