Nuzzled on the water’s edge on Furbo Beach, Padraicins is merrily maritime themed, with old ship lanterns, figurines and other seafaring trinkets. Effortlessly traditional, it’s styled with rich wooden panelling, glass port holes and a bar shaped like a ship’s hull. Good pub food is made with fresh local produce and there are plenty of barrels of Guinness. Also a BB, the venue overlooks stunning views of Galway Bay and the occasional mermaid. A wide selection of dishes includes oaksmoked Irish salmon €9.95 served with capers, red onion and homemade brown bread, and Irish beef Guinness casserole €12.95 served with potatoes and red wine gravy; there are also fish specials every evening. A glass of house wine €4.95 slips down nicely and the bar serves many spirits from vintage port to port and starboard.
