Stars can select their chosen track from an audiolibrary of over 350,000 famous ditties, laying down their track during a twohour session under the guidance of a Popstar Studios producer. Groupon speaks to recording maestro Davan Nagle about the history of Popstar Studios, and which Voice of Ireland rivalry he’d love to settle with a duet. G What can people expect from a typical recording session? “Singers are offered tea from the get go before choosing from a list of songs, with lyrics on the screen and backing tracks provided. We advise about which key suits their voice, and once the song is recorded the mixing stage begins where we can tune vocals and pick from each word to create a perfect final mix.” G Can anything be done if someone is slightly ahem…out of tune? “We use four different types of pitch correction tools to suit different uses. If you can sing 75% in tune we can take care of the rest. G What’s your alltime favourite record? “I think The Killers debut album ‘Hot Fuss’ was a perfect mix of pop and rock, I loved the production on it too.” G Who would your dream duet be with? Why? “I would love to hear Bressie and Kian Egan record a song together; they could call their single ‘Bromance’”
