First-time cliffhangers and the more advanced are all well-served by Vertigo Outdoor's range of courses, held at Dublin's forested Dalkey Quarry, with equipment and training provided.

Choose from the following options:

• €35 Introduction to Rock Climbing (53% Off): A one-day beginners' course with a 1:6 instructor to student ratio. From 10am-4pm, climbers learn basic movements, simple rope-work, belaying and single-pitch climbing

• €125 Rock Improver (52% Off): A three-day course typically spread out over three weeks, with a 1:4 instructor ratio. From 10am-4pm, students learn more advanced movements, more about rope-work and belays, multi-pitch climbing, and abseiling.

• €450 Greece Climbing Holiday With Pre-Training, 14-20 Oct 2013 (50% Off): A seven-day stay on Kalymnos island, the rock covered European climbing hotspot deep in the Aegean. Suitable for beginners or the more advanced, with those needing to brush up able to do so at five pre-training technique days. The trip will be led a mountaineer with over 20-years experience, and base-camp will be the Massouri resort. Accommodation is provided, not flights or internal transport however.

The Merchant

Vertigo Outdoor are a Dublin-based mountaineering group who run rock climbing and hill-walking classes and outings. The team is led by Rob Davies, an experienced climber and extensively qualified instructor who also works with the Air Cadets. Vertigo caters for both beginner and experienced rock-climbers with a range of classes at Dalkey Quarry, as well as holidays to the picturesque climbing hotspots of Montserrat, Kalymnos and Lake Garda. In addition, the group offer courses for hill walking and mountaineering throughout County Wicklow.
