Ah the local, where everyone knows your name. One of the best places in town to have the craic without having to worry about the usual annoyances that come with organising a night out. Also a great place to meet all the local heads without having to do much planning. Pubs and inns have been at the centre of our culture for centuries, both as community meeting places, resting places for weary traveller folk, a dependable place for good food and beer or simply a place to escape the ravages of Irish weather. The latter point is one of the main reasons Ireland has over ten thousand bars, over a thousand in Dublin alone! So it’s not surprising that these establishments are at the centre of the relaxation and socializing end of our culture.
