Groupon’s Guide To Cantabria
Cantabria is a historical region which belongs to Green Spain due to its verdant landscapes and rolling hills. The region offers a host of heritage attractions, museums and white stretches of coast, and is famous for its archaeological sites, natural landscapes and unique gastronomy.
Travellers may head to Santander, the capital city located between Asturias and the Basque Country, and see the 20th-century Magdalena Palace, which sits majestically on the peninsula looking out across the bay. Alternatively, a trip to the Cabarceno Wildlife Park, south of Santander, offers the chance to spot a rainbow variety of wild animals, with ostriches, lions, and rhinos all walking the land. Further away, guests may visit Torrelavega, a medieval village with a rich heritage from the Kingdom of Castile, or the lakeside town of Reinosa and walk the cobbled streets to the Plaza de España and its 16th-century Church of San Sebastián. Seemingly endless trails allow for exploration by foot and two wheels, and with its unusual limestone formations, the landscape is an attraction in its own right.
